The Crypto, Culture, & Society Newsletter
Gm and welcome to this week’s Crypto, Culture, & Society newsletter! If you’re new here, get started by learning about our history and mission and exploring how you can contribute to CCS.
Announcements
Semester II: Our Digital Futures has officially begun.
We’ve onboarded our new Learners with a series of orientation calls, lots of discord intros, and an awesome new member handbook. Shoutout to our CCS Team Leads for getting the semester started on the right foot as Learners joined us from Los Angeles, the Philippines, Marseille, India, Croatia, Barcelona, New Jersey, Finland, and more. You can read more about Semester II and view our syllabus here.
The CCS Terminal on Station is now live.
Station provides on-chain infrastructure for onboarding & coordinating contributors — CCS is proud to be the first DAO to launch a terminal on their platform. We’ll use our terminal to hire contributors for CCS’s Core teams: Workshops, Publication, Community, Strategy & Ops, Brand & Media, Education Services, and Electives. All these teams are currently open for contributor submissions (even if you’re not a Semester II Learner). You can read more about our partnership with Station here.
We’ve hosted our first workshops of Semester II.
Scott Moore of Gitcoin and Alisha of ENS joined us to talk about Public Goods and how it relates to web3 and an open internet. Austin Robey led a conversation with members on what DAOs & Co-Ops can learn from each other. David Phelps dove into the intersection of Marxism and web3. Though our workshops are only available to Semester II Learners, we will always share takeaways on our Mirror publication, The Society Journal — posts for the first two workshops are already live. We're also thrilled to share our newest project: http://publicgoodspack.xyz. Built in collaboration with Gitcoin, this starter pack is made for anyone new to the concept of public goods.
Our Semester II Electives Program has launched.
Electives are smaller discussion-based courses for our Learners, focused on going deep on important topics within web3. They’re led by selected members of the CCS Community and embody our experimental and bottoms-up learning ethos — while the courses will be guided by a facilitator, they'll ultimately be responsive to the interests, unexpected questions, and emergent curiosities of the entire group. This semester, we’re offering four electives:
Simulated Realities: Mythology to Metaverse
A Modern Renaissance: Tracing the Art Historical Origins of NFTs
DAOs & Technological Determinism
Web3 and Social Impact

One of the best parts about CCS culture is the endless love and support members show for the DAO and each other in discord, on twitter, and beyond. Here are a couple of moments we loved recently:
The Semester II Learners Section
This section is built for members enrolled in Semester II and includes private links only accessible for those with the Learner NFT.
